If you're the person everything flows through, every decision, every problem, every 'can you just quickly…', this is for you.
It's not a you problem. It's a leadership problem. And it's fixable.
Leadership is serious. It doesn't have to be this heavy.
ABOUT ME
I'm Susan. I've spent the best part of thirty years helping leaders lead without grinding themselves down, nearly twenty of them running my own coaching and training company in the Middle East before I brought it all back home to Scotland.
These days I work looking out over the Gareloch, with a cat who made the journey back with me and a book or two behind me. One of them's about energy vampires, the people who drain your energy and you can't quite say why. Turns out a lot of leadership is learning to protect yours from exactly those people.
Here's what I've learned in all that time. The leaders who care the most are usually the ones carrying the most. They're capable, conscientious, good at the job. They care about their people, their standards, what their decisions cost everyone else. That's not the problem. That's why they're worth working with.
The problem is what happens to people like that over time. Caring the most turns into carrying the most. Responsibility turns into over-responsibility. And one day they look up and realise they've become the thing everything waits on, they're exhausted, and they've accepted a level of pressure nobody should call normal.
That's fixable. It's also my favourite thing to fix.
My work is calm, direct and practical, and it's lighter than you'd expect. Leadership is serious. It doesn't have to be heavy. I'll ask the questions you've been avoiding, challenge the patterns you've stopped noticing, and I'll do it without the motivational hype or the pretence that you need to become someone else. You don't. You need room to lead like yourself.
What I won't do is help you tolerate an unsustainable situation without changing it. If that's what you're after, I'm not your coach.
If you want to lead well without losing yourself in the process, we should talk.

Work With Me
I work with capable leaders who are trusted, responsible, and often carrying more than is sustainable.
If you want to lead well without sacrificing your energy, clarity, or sense of self in the process, this work is designed for you.
Who this work is for
This is for leaders who are:
-
experienced and capable
-
relied on by others
-
tired of holding everything together
-
ready to change how they lead, not just cope better
What we work on
In our work together, we focus on:
-
restoring clarity when everything feels noisy
-
separating responsibility from over-responsibility
-
making strong decisions without carrying unnecessary emotional weight
-
leading with confidence that doesn’t depend on self-sacrifice
Here's what changes. You stop being the bottleneck everything waits on. The business runs on more than your constant presence, so you can step back without it wobbling. Decisions get made without all of them landing on your desk. You get your evenings back, your head back, the bit of you that had a life outside the work. And the strange part is the business gets better, not worse, because a leader with room to think leads better than one running flat out. That's the work. Not doing less because you've given up. Leading well because you've finally got the space to.
What it’s like to work with me
My approach is calm, direct, and practical. I’ll ask thoughtful questions, challenge unhelpful patterns, and support you in making changes that actually stick.
There’s no performance theatre here, and no pressure to become someone you’re not.
How it starts
Most clients begin with a Leadership Conversation. This gives us both the chance to explore what’s going on for you, what you want to change, and whether working together feels like the right next step.
If it’s a fit, we’ll decide together what support would be most useful.
A quick note on fit
This work isn’t about quick fixes, motivational hype, or pushing through at all costs.
If you’re looking for someone to help you tolerate an unsustainable situation without changing it, I won’t be the right coach for you.
